It was found in 1876 in the vicinity of the Sanctuary of Asklepios but it must have belonged to the nearby Sanctuary of the Nymphs and Pan. It is mended of five fragments and restored.
In the upper left corner Pan is portrayed with goat horns on his head coming out of a cave whereas on the viewer’s right three Nymphs are depicted, the last one of whom is barely preserved. The middle Nymph wears a peplos and the Nymph on the left chiton and himation. The latter turns her gaze towards a bearded man, a mortal rendered in smaller scale.
According to the inscription ΑΡΧΑΝΔΡ[ΟΣ] ΝΥΜΦΑΙΣ ΚΑ[Ι ΠΑΝΙ] on the upper part of the stele, which reads “Archandros (dedicated this) to the Nymphs and the Pan”, the man is Archandros standing before a stone altar and paying his respect to the Nymphs, as is indicated by his hand’s movement.
